Don’t you just love the sounds waterfalls make? As it gushes and whooshes down the cascading rocks, everyone just love to be closer to the mists of waterfalls. Waterfalls Calgary can bring these trickles and splashes to your garden, bringing a beautiful nature landmark right into your home.
Almost everyone I know wished to have a waterfall in their property. This gives calmness to the senses in the same way nature waterfalls do.
A waterfall in the garden has become a favorite water feature to many people. Though some have find it challenging to incorporate it in their landscape, it’s not that hard if you have professional guidance from an expert.
So how do you start, I’ll them to you…
1. Finding the spot
Find the location where you want your waterfall. Locate a path of the stream where it can be visible from your house. You may want to enjoy a sight of this beautiful phenomena.
Waterfall sounds are important. Decide on the spot and know if you can hear the splashes when the falls are already in place.
Elevate the waterfall as natural as possible. Put the waterfall against a rock wall or better yet just create a hill as an elevation.
2. Waterfall dimensions
Measure the dimensions of the waterfall and the stream – width, depth, especially the height. Find the water stream length from the top of the waterfall to the pump. You need this measurements to know the water pump strength.
Your waterfall system has three stages. First, the waterfall starts at the elevated edge where the water comes and then falls down and trickles at the rocks. Second, the water falls into a pool. Third, The fountain pump gathers the water and then pumps it back to the top through a hidden tubing supply.
3. Water volume
Did you still have depth, length and width of your garden waterfalls? Then multiply its product by 7.48 gallons per cubic feet. This will be the volume of your water stream.
Rocks usually take around 60 percent of the total volume of the pond. You would still have to multiply volume of the stream by 40 percent.
4. Buy a water pump
Have all your waterfall measurements when you go to the store. You may need this so the supplier can give you the right water pump. Pumps are based in gallons per hour or GPH.
You’re better off with a water pump that’s higher than the head of your garden falls. Give your measurements to the shop supplier to help you with the right conversion.
5. Water pipes
Buy the water pipes which is a right fit to the outlet size of the water pump. The diameters must be equal. You can’t have disparity in the diameters.
6. Create the pool
You can use a use a black pond liner when you create a pool. Hallow out the pool at the same size and shape of the pool liner. Place the liner in the hole, provide a foundation and then level it with sand.
Shovel some soil from the edge of the pond liner, then put in the plastic landscape. Place some stones around the perimeter to create a natural landscape illusion.
7. Set up water pipes and pump
Fixed in the pumps inside the water pool. Put in the cover then place in some rocks for a more natural appearance.
Set out the tubes to the water pump from the waterfall. Submerge the pipe to hide it from sight.
8. Last elements
Embellish the streambeds, then in their final position the cascade stones. Backfill all the rocks with soil, gravel, ground and aquatic plants to create the appearance of nature.
Fill the pond with water. Plug in the pump. The water should be able to send fast from the pond up to the top of the waterfalls.
